Hi, everyone I hope you have had a good week / weekend.
So, me and my husband decided to go and visit Swanbourne Lake last week, which is based in Arundel.
I thought as we where there I would do a post as it’s a lovely place to visit and it’s free which we all like, when times are hard!
Swanbourne lake is a beautiful lake in Arundel where you can walk around the lake and in the summer months they hire boats out, but because we went last week I think it’s just hit the end of the Summer, so we couldn’t do this. Also, where we haven’t had much rain the lake was a little dry, so really hope we get some wet weather soon to fill the lake back up! Feel sorry for the wildlife there.
But on an happier note, it’s still lovely to walk around, the terrain is ok, I personally think it might be hard to push a wheelchair around there in some parts, but if you have a large mobility scooter with big wheels that would make it around in dry weather, “as I have done this before”.
There is a sweet little tearoom there and public toilets at the entrance, which are disabled friendly and in the summer months there is an ice cream hut too.
It’s also I good place to take a picnic and feed the ducks, you can buy duck food at the tearooms.
Swanbourne lake is a small walk from Arundel castle and Arundel wetlands centre and the Black Rabbit, which is a lovely pub if you fancy going up there after for a drink or a meal, it sits right on the river and has it’s own car park with a couple of disabled parking bays.
There is some parking at Swanbourne Lake but it’s more road parking, unless you park near the castle and walk down, all depends on how busy it is.
There are some benches at the start of Swanbourne lake to sit on but there isn’t any the further you walk round, there is normally a fallen tree or stub that you can sit on though, which is what I had to do quite a few times.
You can also take the doggy’s with you, in the busy parts you do have to keep them on the lead but there are parts you can let them off the lead, there are no poo bins so please take your doggies do doo's with you and you can put it in the bin once you reach the end of your walk.
